la vie en rose

I have a slight (or not so slight, depending on who you ask) obsession with Edith Piaf. I just love her story. I love her voice. I collect her records and I listen to her, at least for a few minutes, nearly every day. She just makes me happy. One of my favorite brunch spots has her on heavy rotation, which is probably one of the key reasons I like it so much.

Needless to say, this makes me dizzy with excitement! It looks really good. I think it has already opened here in SF, but it is difficult to get to the movies with a baby. My husband's work schedule is the exact opposite of mine.

Not to worry, I'll work it out.

I will see you soon Edith!

wet plate collodion process

I love antique photography processes. I recently came across Jody Ake's website in PDN. He makes portraits and landscapes using the wet plate collodion process. I love his vintage feeling website and his work is lovely. Portrait and landscape are not usually my favorite, but the old style combined with contemporary imagery is very appealing to me.

girly fun

I want a pink pony!
Photo: Tim Walker for Russian Vogue

Spring makes me crave anything super girly.

I've seen postings about Alannah Hill on a few blogs lately and I'm in love. So beautiful.

Finally, this spread, found via pink box is amazing.

Dreaming of more lovely Spring days.

back to work

Spring is funny in San Francisco. Right now we are having the kind of weather I like - crisp, sunny days with a slightly chilly breeze. The longer days of Spring have allowed me to get out of the house more durring the week. I feel less like my days are all about work. I have more energy and new ideas for projects.

This week was a short week. I took Monday off from work for my husband's birthday. Since Sunday was my first Mother's Day, it was a nice, long, celebratory weekend. I feel like I just got back to work and now it's almost time for the weekend again! I just love when that happens.

where do the days go?

You know those days that are over as soon as they've begun?  I swear it's bedtime almost as soon as I'm home from work.

Anyhow, allow me to mom out for a moment - The Pixie is officially crawling!  She has always been much more interested in standing and cruising, so I thought she might just skip crawling.   And then yesterday, she just went for it.  And so it begins… Within an hour of her first wobbly crawls, she pulled a chair down on top of herself!   She's fine, but I nearly had a heart attack.

Happy Spring!

Lazy Saturday

Sleeping in until 8am (yes, this is very late for me!)
Staying in my PJ's until 11am
Walking around my neighborhood with the Pixie
Treating myself to a bubble tea and my favorite used bookstore
Visiting with Mom
Watching and loving Little Miss Sunshine
Looking forward to an equally lovely Sunday

artist's block

This is an old piece. I have a completely different life than I did 2 years ago. Change is good, but it has made me a very unproductive girl. I am hoping to blog my way out of this block.

Happy New Year!

It is the year of the pig. Did anyone get any red envelopes? My husband and I each got a little something from his parents and my little girl raked it in!

On to fashion. I was having flashbacks to the early 90's with all of the black tights and short dresses in the New York shows. The only things missing were the chunky shoes we all used to wear. Then this weekend, I saw this. Creepers on the runway! I love this dress.

So, it is official. I am obsessed with Carnivale! I am almost half way through the second season, and I don't know what I'll do when I'm done. I'm off to watch an episode now.

Have a great week.

Long Live the Queen

The Queen Mary 2 docked earlier this week. She's massive! Quite beautiful too. I got to get a look before she left. Pier 27 was swarming with gawkers.
